Captain Barry is a superb guide. If you are from England like me - He's like the Ronseal advert ...(he does exactly what it says on the tin...) Patient and hardworking and a total pleasure to be with. I have fished with Captain Barry for at least 6 years, and with plenty of other guides around the keys and in Florida - he stands out.He has been outstanding with many of my friends who have joined us on the second half of split trip- all who have been novices, all of whom rated the trip amongst thier top memory / experience of the holiday (he beats Disney every time). He has given me several personal bests, personal firsts, tons of knowledge, confidence, advice and pure enjoyment. He has to work hard with me as my nerve goes as soon as we see Bonefish, my casting goes to pot, my ability to think rationally leaves me and coordination often means Barry could be the unexpected recipient of my hook. He may have polled like mad to give me the best shot, then I mess it up - He advises, motivates, re-assures and his focus is on the next shot. A small flats boat in the middle of summer bonefishing can be hot, intense and is not easy work - Captain Barry has always made it a pleasure - If I had been doing all that polling and someone performed like me I would have pushed them off the boat and headed back in many years ago...
I am so Lucky it's getting warm in Nottingham England (70 degrees f)and I can now think about summer in the Keys, relaxing, getting some sun, and being out in an awesome ecosystem, the possibilty of Bonefish, Tarpon, Permit, Redfish, plus loads of funfish and sharks, then there's the wildlife...ahhh I can imagine it already.
On top of that there is only one guide I would want to be with.
